School Year 2011-2012 Course Catalog.

 Private instrumental lesson (School year Program):  In a weekly 30, 45 or 60 minute music lesson, students will receive one-on-one instruction in playing techniques, repertoire, musicianship and music theory.  Students will be introduced to music of various styles and historical periods, and learn to perform them on their instruments in a progressive manner.  We host about 12 recitals every year to give each of our students an opportunity to share their musical achievement with an audience. The recital is something that both our students and their parents have enjoyed and really look forward to!  The Moosic School is also one of the largest participants in the prestigious Associated Board of Royal School of Music Graded Music Exams in the Houston area. Students are selected based on ability in musicianship and dedication in musical learning. Students receive 14 lessons in fall and 17 lessons in spring.

Private instrumental lesson ( Pay-as-you-go) :  Available in 30, 45 or 60 minute music lesson.  Lesson content is the same as our school year program.  This program is perfect for students who have unpredictable sports schedules as well as for adult students who require more flexible lesson scheduling. Lesson day and time is limited and priority will be given to students registered on school year basis even if lessons are paid. 24-hours advance noticed will be given if a paid lesson reservations needs to be rescheduled.
Beginner Group piano (School year program) :  Beginner piano lesson for students in Pre-K through 4th grade is instructed in a group format at our River Oaks Baptist School location and The Moosic School studio.  These group lessons allow students to develop a strong foundation in music reading and playing in a fun and engaging environment.  Most students will be ready for transition into early intermediate playing in private settings after the two years of group piano curriculum.   Students at all other locations can choose to sign up for group class at our studio or private lessons at the hosting school. Students receive 14 lessons in fall and 17 lessons in spring.

• River Oaks Baptist School: Mon 2:30-3:30 PM (K only), Weds 3:15-4:15PM ( 1^st – 4^th grade)

Chinese Class (School year program):  Weekly Chinese class for beginner Chinese Language learner.  Instruction is based on a child-centered curriculum designed to motivate students in non-Chinese environments to start speaking Chinese in a fun and engaging environment.  Lessons are story-centered, inquiry-based, culturally-rich and delivered in multimedia format.  Each student will have an online account where students and parents can review stories read in class, complete online lessons, play instructional games and complete homework.  All lessons and stories are animated and the reading is done for you.   There will be various optional field trips and events designed to increase the student’s cultural awareness and to provide opportunities to practice the Chinese that the students have learned in a meaningful way.
